Choosing an area in Ibiza for a family trip
Packing the beach bag is one job. Choosing where you'll use it is the bigger decision. A search for family Ibiza hotels can start with the beach day your family wants: Santa Eulària has three beaches connected by a promenade, Cala Llonga has a playground beside the beach, and Talamanca has beachside leisure and dining services. Start with Santa Eulària for connected beachfront walks, Cala Llonga for beach-and-playground days, or Talamanca when meals are part of the beach plan. The accommodation address still needs to make that choice work. Source Source Source
Which beach setup fits your family's day?
Santa Eulària: The connected beaches give this option a useful distinction: you can plan around a stretch of beachfront rather than one patch of sand. Santa Eulària beach is next to the sports harbour, while Platja de Riu de Santa Eulària includes the mouth of the Balearic Islands' only river. Beach services include showers and rentals of sun loungers, umbrellas and pedal boats. For a family that likes a beach day with a walk built into it, those features give Santa Eulària a clear reason to make the shortlist.

Would changing where you spend the afternoon be part of the fun, or would everyone rather unpack once and stay put? A connected beachfront matters more to the first family. For the second, the stretch nearest the accommodation may matter more than the wider choice. Think about what you'd actually do with the beach bag once you've put it down.
Cala Llonga: The fine-sand beach measures 200 metres long and 100 metres wide, so the comparison here is one beach with an adjacent playground rather than Santa Eulària's connected beachfront. Cala Llonga is 4 km from Santa Eulària des Riu, but that distance alone doesn't tell you how a family outing between them would work. The beach also provides a wooden accessibility walkway and an amphibious-chair bathing service. If someone in your family needs those facilities, they're a concrete reason to consider Cala Llonga, then check how the service and the route from your accommodation would meet their needs.

Talamanca: This bay adjoining the port stretches for almost a kilometre and is the municipality's largest beach. Its fine sand, shallow water, raised wooden promenade and dining services make it worth considering if your family likes to combine beach time with a walk and a meal. When comparing accommodation, check how you'd reach the beach and the places you'd eat from each address. The municipality has also designated two smoke-free zones at Talamanca. Shallow water is a beach characteristic, not a guarantee of swimming safety.

For a family that wants to include a meal in the outing, look at whether the places you'd choose fit your children's needs and your budget. Having dining nearby is useful only if it works for you. You don't need every possible beach feature. Give the most weight to the one that would make an ordinary holiday day easier.
Would boat trips change your choice of base?
Santa Eulària has coastal excursions departing from the nearby port. Cala Llonga has a more specific set of documented connections: summer boats link its small port beside the beach with Santa Eulària, Es Canar and Ibiza. That summer limitation matters if boat trips are part of the reason you're considering Cala Llonga. Check operating dates, departure points and return timetables before building a day around a connection. The destination label 'Ibiza' doesn't establish a particular arrival terminal.
How much should one boat outing influence the whole stay? If it's a possible extra, choose the base around your beach days first. If several excursions are central to the holiday, compare the actual services before settling on an address. Include the journey to the departure point and the return to your accommodation, especially if one family member might want to head back earlier.
Does the accommodation address fit that plan?
Santa Eulària beach can be reached by public transport, and Cala Llonga beach is also reachable by public transport and has parking. Those facts give you options to investigate, but they don't establish that every accommodation address would suit a car-free family trip. Check the services and routes you would actually use rather than treating an area name as a transport plan.
Before comparing rooms, check the route from each accommodation entrance to the beach features you've chosen. How would you get there carrying bags, and would the route suit anyone using a stroller or mobility aid? Then check the accommodation itself: sleeping arrangements, room access and any facilities your family needs. A good area match and a suitable room are two separate parts of the same decision.
